  • Sl Vs Pak Once Again Proving His Stature Shahid Afridi Reacts To Babar Azams Ton In Galle Test

SL vs PAK | ‘Once again proving his stature’, Shahid Afridi reacts to Babar Azam's ton in Galle Test

Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been belting out runs like nobody's business ever since he took over the captaincy role.

Carrying on from where he left off in the home series against Australia, Azam single-handedly dented Sri Lanka's hopes of securing a sizable lead in the first Test at Galle.

With the wickets tumbling, the 27-year-old carved out an incredible 119-run knock for his side.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has praised the right-hander for his defining knock.

Afridi on Twitter wrote, "Babar once again proving his stature with an extraordinary innings under immense pressure! Great support by Naseem, Pakistan right back in the match. Shaheen and the rest of the bowlers have it in them to restrict SL to low total and setup a win. Great game to watch!"

Record-setting knock

This was Babar's sixth Test century in 41 Tests.

He also leveled former Pakistan player Inzamam-Ul-Haq's record of scoring the most hundreds (9) as a Pakistan captain.

He achieved this in just 70 innings compared to Inzamam, who took 131 innings.

Surpasses Virat Kohli, yet again!

During his knock, Azam went past 10,000 international runs coming from 228 innings, bettering former Indian captain Virat Kohli's record of 232 innings to become the fastest Asian to this tally.

He is also the fifth fastest batter to reach this tally, joining the likes of Joe Root (228), Hashim Amla (217), Brian Lara (220), and Sir Vivian Richards (206).

He has 2,851 Test, 4,442 ODI, and 2,686 T20 runs, which includes 24 centuries and 66 half-centuries.
