India’s Sanju Samson has recovered from the knee injury that ruled him out of the first two ODIs of the series against Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batsman will reportedly be considered for selection in the third and final ODI of the series and the T20 series that will follow the ODI series.
Samson had suffered a ligament injury on the eve of the first ODI and India went ahead with Ishan Kishan behind the stumps. Samson is yet to play ODI cricket for India and it was one golden opportunity missed due to injury.
Samson has played T20 cricket matches for the national side but has not been successful with the bat. He was dropped from the side after the first two matches of the series against Australia late last year. However, his form in the IPL 2021 earlier this year earned him another shot at the chance to impress the national team.
Samson has played 114 IPL matches and has amassed 2,861 runs with an average of 28.89 and a strike rate of 134.82. However, he has managed to score only 83 runs in a seven match-long international T20 career with an abysmal average of 11.86 runs per innings.
