India's star seamer Mohammed Siraj recently dealt a blow as he was not considered for Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, the right-arm seamer, who has formed a formidable pair with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami over the years, dealt a shock as he is not even considered a replacement for Bumrah in the upcoming England series and fell behind Harshit Rana in the pecking order.
In the latest events, eyes are on Siraj's next move as fans are speculating whether he will follow Gautam Gambhir's instructions and return to domestic cricket. Notably, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravindra Jadeja are all set to test themselves by playing the next round of the Ranji Trophy.
HCA Responds To Siraj's Participation
Meanwhile, there is no update on Siraj as the HCA president revealed that they have not received any information from the ex-RCB star. A member of the Hyderabad cricket team management was quoted as saying by Times of India: “We are yet to get an update. As of now, we haven't heard anything from him from the HCA.”
Notably, Hyderabad will face Himachal Pradesh on January 23 in Ranji Trophy 2024-25 elite and it is to be seen whether Siraj will make himself available or not.
Rohit Sharma On Siraj's Inclusion
During the press conference for Champions Trophy 2025 squad announcement, Rohit had answered queries on Siraj's absence and remarked that his ineffectiveness with the old ball was the reason behind his exclusion.
"Siraj’s effectiveness comes down if he doesn’t use the new ball. It’s unfortunate if he misses out,” Rohit said in the press conference alongside chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar," remarked Rohit.
Now it is to be seen when will Siraj mark his return to the Indian team in limited formats.
