Shoaib Malik's nephew becomes 2nd youngest Pakistan batter to score triple-ton in FC cricket

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik’s nephew Muhammad Huraira made headlines after becoming the country’s second youngest cricketer to score a triple century.

Huraira who is 19 years and 239 days achieved the feat during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy while playing for Northern against Balochistan.

Huraira and his opening partner Sarmad Bhatti had a brilliant start to the proceedings as the two put on 365 for the first wicket.

While Bhatti departed for 135, Huraira notched up 311, an innings that included four maximums and 40 fours during the course of the innings as Northern piled up 621/4 (D) in reply to Balochistan’s 305. Umar Amin also scored 51 for the side.

Earlier, Balochistan rode on Shan Masood’s 190 and fifty from Kashif Bhatti to put 305 runs in the first innings. Kashif Ali and Athar Mahmood scalped four wickets apiece.

Northern are at the helm of the points table with three wins and 127 points in nine matches. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa follow them at second spot while Balochistan are placed at the bottom still searching for their first win.

Mzansi Super League cancelled by Cricket South Africa due to Covid complications

Cricket South Africa has to once again cancel the upcoming edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) scheduled for February 2022 due to the Covid-19 compilations, leading to logistical problems. In an official press release, CSA said, “ We can confirm that the league has been called off owing to the COVID 19 environment which has made it difficult to maintain the brand proposition of being the premium international T20 tournament, due to increased travel restrictions as imposed by many nations on South Africa since the discovery of Omicron variant of the virus.” Citing other reasons for their decision-making, the South African cricket body said that restrictions such as stricter travel possibilities, the Bio-Secure Environment frustrations, fear of the new variant, and the weak Rand/US Dollar exchange rate have made it impossible to maintain the elite stature of the league and hence they were compelled to cancel it. This is the second year in a row that the board ad to cancel the league and in its place, it has decided to fill the window with the domestic CSA T20 Challenge which was also played last year. Pholetsi Moseki, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Cricket South Africa said, “The decision to cancel the 2021 edition of the MSL is meant to allow CSA and its strategic partners to revamp and review the tournament post-Covid-19 to regain its market and commercial position. For its purposes, the MSL slot will again be replaced by a domestic CSA T20 Challenge, featuring the 8 (eight) Division-1 teams and this tournament will take place in February 2022.”

"I'd love to see a Women's IPL kick off soon, that's the next step for the global game,” said Sophie Devine at the Amazon Prime event. "India is the next big step for the game after the success of WBBL and the event in England,” said Suzie Bates. The Indian players were a part of the WBBL recently and had a good run during the competition. In fact, Harmanpreet Kaur was named player of the tournament after she top-scored for her side Melbourne Renegades with 399 runs in 11 innings and also picked up 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.46. Apart from her, Jemimah Rodrigues also had a good run as she scored 317 runs.
