Shahid Afridi to play for Kathmandu Kings XI in Everest Premier League

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi will be back in action as he is all set to feature in the Everest Premier League which is Nepal’s domestic T20 tournament.

"Welcome on board with Kathmandu Kings XI," Lamichhane told Afridi in a video message at the launch of the team's campaign.

"All the boys are really excited to see you here on the field. And I personally know you are going to have a great time during your visit to Nepal. Can't wait to see you joining the team."

The former right-handed all-rounder expressed his delight and said that he was very excited to be a part of the side.

"This will be my first visit to Kathmandu," Afridi said. "I am very excited and looking forward to visiting."

The Kathmandu Kings will have the services of spinner Sandeep Lamichhane who will be reuniting with Afridi. The two last played together for the ICC World XI side against West Indies in a hurricane relief exhibition match at Lord's.

Lamichhane earlier had to miss The Hundred tournament and returned back to Nepal because of visa issues. The two players have played against each in the Afghanistan Premier League and Pakistan Super League.

WI vs PAK | 1st T20I: When & where to watch match LIVE, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

West Indies and Pakistan are all set to lock horns in a four-match T20I series scheduled to begin on Wednesday (July 28, 2021) in Barbados. The home side has recently suffered a defeat in the ODI series against Australia but grabbed a fascinating 4-1 win in a five-match T20I series against the Aussie team. Pakistan on the other side, would be under some tremendous pressure as they failed to leave a mark against England away from home. The Pakistan side suffered defeats in both the ODIs and T20Is against the English team. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) had earlier also dropped a fixture from the T20I series against Pakistan. "Yes, we have cancelled the first T20I and play the rest of the tour as originally planned. We have to prioritize the ODI Super League and the World Test Championship," the board official said justifying the decision. "It was the most logical choice." Pakistan’s batting became a major cause of concern during the England series as the batting line up failed to leave a mark. Neither the batsmen were able to chase down a target nor were they successful in posting a big total. Moreover, Babar Azam’s scoring rate while chasing is another cause of concern for the Pakistan team management. Match Details Match: WI vs PAK, 1st T20I, Pakistan tour of West Indies, 2021 Date: Wednesday, July 28, 2021 Time: 7:30 PM Venue: Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados Pitch Report The track in Barbados hasn’t really helped the batsmen especially while chasing. To add to this, there is a slight chance of rain as well in the morning. So, if you win the toss, bat first and a total of somewhere around 150-160 would be a defendable one. Probable XI West Indies: Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Kieron Pollard (C), Andre Russell, Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Hayden Walsh Jr, Fidel Edwards, Obed McCoy Pakistan: Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Sohaib Maqsood, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi Fantasy XI Mohammad Rizwan, Sohaib Maqsood, Babar Azam, Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard (C), Shadab Khan (VC), Imad Wasim, Andre Russell, Haris Rauf, Hayden Walsh, Obed McCoy
