Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has joined the ownership group of America’s National Cricket League (NCL). The move is expected to generate much buzz within the United States cricketing fraternity.

Tendulkar expressed his excitement of joining the NCL initiative and vision as well as for witnessing the growth of cricket in the United States firsthand.

Sachin Tendulkar joins NCL to put US cricket on the map

Sachin Tendulkar recently took an ownership stake in America’s NCL. After NCL announced Tendulkar’s joining, the former cricketer said:

“Pleased to join the National Cricket League at such an exciting time for the sport in the US.”

The legendary Indian cricketer also added that NCL’s vision of creating a platform for world-class cricket prompted him to join the initiative.

NCL Chairman Arun Agarwal said that they are “incredibly excited” to welcome Sachin Tendulkar to the National Cricket League family. He believes Tendulkar’s commitment and global appeal will hold key in introducing cricket to the new audiences in America. He added that the cricketer’s involvement will also help the NCL in inspiring future generations to establish the game as one of the major sports in the United States.

Sachin Tendulkar will also be presenting the trophy to the winning team in the inaugural edition of the NCL.

The NCL features numerous cricketing legends in playing or coaching capacities. Former players like Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sir Vivian Richards, Venkatesh Prasad, Sanath Jayasuriya among others will be either mentoring or coaching the next generation of US players.

Meanwhile, Indian white-ball heavyweights like Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik will be joining the likes of Shahid Afridi, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, Chris Lynn, Tabraiz Shamsi, Colin Munro and Angelo Mathews as some of the competing overseas players in the NCL.
