Hampshire vs Worcestershire

Crafty 40s from Ben Brown, Fletcha Middleton and Scott Currie elevated Hampshire’s total to a respectable 236. Each of the six Worcestershire bowlers used in the innings found themselves among the wickets, with speedster Joe Leach making the headline act with his three-fer.

In response, Worcestershire’s Ed Barnard (85*) and Taylor Cornall (43) turned out to be the only batters in the run-chase to reach the double-digits. The 26 extras in the innings served as the next best aggregator for the visitors, as the remaining nine batsmen combined just 38 runs between them.

Hampshire’s new-ball portmanteau Scott Currie and Ian Holland snared three wickets each to engineer a 44-run victory for their side.

Brief scores:

Hampshire: 236/10 (49.3)
Fletcha Middleton 49 (68), Ben Brown 47 (61);
Joe Leach 3-41, Ben Gibbon 2-33

Worcestershire: 192/10 (45)
Ed Barnard 85* (105), Taylor Cornall 43 (74);
Ian Holland 3-17, Scott Currie 3-36

Hampshire won by 44 runs

Essex vs Derbyshire

Derbyshire’s 318-6 was highly influenced by Brooke Guest, who dined 88 of the finest runs over the Essex bowlers. Meanwhile, lower-order pinch-hitter Mattie McKiernan initiated the death-overs fury, with his 49-ball 72* serving as the chief turbo-charging innings for his side.

Hosts Essex were tendered clueless in their response. A collective bowling effort from Derbyshire bowlers Ben Aitchison, Luis Reece and Mark Watt consigned the Tom Westley-led side to a heavy 92-run defeat.

Brief scores:

Derbyshire: 318-6 (50)
Brooke Guest 88 (79), Mattie McKiernan 72* (49);
Aron Nijjar 2-49, Shane Snater 2-68

Essex: 226/10 (44.2)
Jamal Richards 46 (44), Grant Roelofsen 43 (58);
Ben Aitchison 2-21, Luis Reece 2-30
