Rohit Sharma explains India's decision to try three new bowlers in third T20I

On Sunday, Indian captain Rohit Sharma reflected on the team's plan to use the second-string attack in the third T20 International against England. He stated that the decision was taken to run the rule over the inexperienced bowlers.

Having already clinched the series, India had made a few changes to their bowling attack, bringing in Umran Malik, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi in place of the senior bowlers who were rested for the game.

India lost the match by 17 runs but won the series 2-1, having won the first two matches.

Meanwhile, Umran Malik was the most expensive bowler, conceding 56 runs in four overs as England posted 215 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. Bishnoi was the most successful bowler, with two wickets for 30 runs in his four overs.

"We were clear in trying out guys if they can bowl 4 overs. We have things to work on as a group. Hope so. So far things are pretty good. We don't want to sit on laurels," Rohit said after the 17-run loss against England.

"We want to get better every game. Today was a great learning for us to come out and bowl. And to bat as well. Games like this will teach you".

Suryakumar Yadav made a swashbuckling 117 off 55 balls to lead India's chase. Meanwhile, Sharma also backed the under-fire Virat Kohli, who has been going through a lean patch for quite some time now.

After failing in the rescheduled fifth and final Test, he could not do well in the T20I series either.

Sharma also confirmed that Kohli's aggressive intent was a personal decision of the player and the team's requirement. His early dismissal in both games was acceptable as per the new batting approach adopted by the team.
