Rishabh Pant’s walk towards full recovery continues to remain his primary focus. As per recent development, the dashing wicketkeeper-batsman has started facing deliveries in excess of 140 kmph and he has also been refining his skills behind the stumps.

Back in December 2022, the cricketer was involved in a freak car accident on the Delhi-Dehradhun highway. His near-death experience left him with multiple injuries to his head, back, a ligament tear on his right knee among others. Pant has remained out of action since then, and has been working to regain his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Next couple of months crucial for Pant’s fitness

As per latest reports, Rishabh Pant seems to be having no troubles while facing deliveries with speeds in excess of 140 kmph.

A source close to the NCA recently stated that the cricketer’s next target is to work on his quicker body movements, which he and the academy are aiming to achieve within the next couple of months. While speaking with RevSports, the source said:

“Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with speed excess to 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months.”

On the other hand, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are nearing full fitness recovery from their ends. The two dynamic batters have already started sharing videos of their training on their social media accounts, and will likely make their return to Indian team in time for the ODI World Cup later this year.

Jasprit Bumrah, meanwhile, has already made full recovery and is back in the Indian squad after nearly a year-long gap. The pace maverick is set to lead the ‘Men in Blue’ in a three-match T20I series in Ireland.
