The novel tournament arising from South Africa, CSA T20 League, may witness franchises from the Indian Premier League (IPL) squaring up against each other.
A six-team tournament hosted by Cricket South Africa (CSA) will be tentatively played from January 2023 onwards. A few days back, the Proteas had to pull out of the ODI series against Australia to avoid the clash with the concerned league and ensure the availability of top players.
MI and CSK place biggest bids
A report by Cricbuzz stated that the franchises like Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have put the highest bids in the team auction, which culminated on Wednesday (July 13).
Among them, arch-rivals, MI and CSK, have infused capital of around INR 250 crores, which tops all other interested parties, including the Kevin Pietersen-led consortium.
MI is expected to have a team based out of Cape Town, while Johannesburg can be the home venue for CSK.
