Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja, on Thursday (April 7), has revealed the profit PCB earned from the recently-concluded home series against Australia.
While speaking in a video released by the PCB, Raja revealed that PCB has earned a profit of around 2 billion from Australia's tour of Pakistan.
The historic tour of Australia has seen a massive response worldwide as they visited Pakistan for the first time in 24 years. Australia played three Tests, three ODIs and one-off T20I on this tour.
The hosts did not have a great time in the bilateral series against Australia as they lost the Test series by 1-0. However, they fared well in the ODI series and won it 2-1, but lost the recently concluded one-off T20I.
"With good performances in the recent past, our cricket team has built confidence in people which has given us new heights on commercial grounds," Raja said.
"After our victory against India in the T20 World Cup, people took more interest in this game. Only Australia's home tour generated profits up to two billion. So, it is a positive sign for us moving forward," he added.
However, the PCB chief believes that infrastructure is something they need to work on. He also criticized the Pakistan pitches and said they were not up to the mark and they'll improve it, considering the upcoming international cricket season.
"We lack infrastructure. Our pitches are not up to the mark. Upcoming international cricket season in the country is massive, and for that, we need to work hard," the chairman said.
Raja, further speaking on PCB's four-nation Super Series proposal, said that Australia has welcomed it, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are yet to respond to his proposal.
"Cricket Australia (CA) has welcomed this initiative; however other three stakeholders - the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the ICC haven't responded yet."
