Rahul Dravid is reportedly in talks with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a mentorship role ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The India head coach, who is seemingly reluctant to extend his current stint, could be joining one of the two franchises with Lucknow emerging as the more potential next destination and challenge for the legend.

According to a report in the 'Dainik Jagran', Dravid could be in to replace LSG's ex mentor Gautam Gambhir in the role after latter's surprising departure from the set-up following a two-year stint paved the way for his comeback to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the same capacity.

The report also mentioned the BCCI will soon be holding a meeting to assess Dravid's interest and final word on retaining his head coach's post. However, the former skipper is unlikely to commit to the job again following the conclusion of his two-year term with the World Cup 2023 as he is seeking more time with his family and growing young kids.

Dravid In Talks With LSG, RR Ahead Of IPL 2024

It won't be possible for Dravid to give his family enough time if he dons the head coach's hat for another term given India's strenuous all-format schedule. But an IPL gig allows for a more balanced arrangement where Dravid will only be required to give two months a year to a franchise and can spend the next 10 months with his wife and kids without losing much of his earnings.

Notably, LSG are approaching the IPL 2024 with a fresh support staff on board after the departures of Gambhir and also head coach Andy Flower. The franchise had roped in Australian Justin Langer for Flower's post and he could be joined by Dravid as an able ally and sounding board in Gambhir's role.
