PSL 2022: Islamabad United post mammoth 229/4 vs Gladiators after thorough dominance from batters

Islamabad United posted a mammoth 229/4 in 20 overs against Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2022 fixture. Openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales provided the side with some brilliant start after being put into bat as the two batters compiled 55 runs for the first wicket. Hales was undone for 22 off 9 deliveries at the end of the fourth over while Stirling went on to score a fifty during the course. Later, Colin Munro and Azam Khan took the onus on themselves as they chipped in with a stand of 93 runs for the fourth wicket. While Munro remained unbeaten at a 39-ball 72 which included five maximums and three fours, Azam on the other side, scored 65 in just 35 balls. Nawaz was the pick of the bowlers for Gladiators as he bagged a couple for 32 in 4 overs.

Comilla Victorians thumped Chattogram Challengers by 9 wickets in a rain-curtailed BPL 2022 match in Dhaka on Thursday. Chasing 139 in 18 overs, the Victorians rode on some emphatic batting display from openers Imrul Kayes and Liton Das to clinch a win as the two batters put up a partnership of 138 runs for the first wicket before Das departed for 53 off 37. Kayes on the other side, remained unbeaten as Comilla Victorians won by 9 wickets. Earlier, in the day, the Challengers lost an early wicket but Will Jacks and Afif Hossain put up a partnership of 62 runs for the second wicket to steady the ship for the side. Hossain was then sent back in the hut for 27 off 21 by Tanvir Islam. Later, Jacks was joined by Shamim Hossain and the two once again provided the resistance with a 47-run stand. But Shamim's wicket for a 22-ball 26 broke the shackles as the Victorians scalped wickets at regular intervals from thereon. Jacks though scored a fifty for the side. Mustafizur was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with a five-wicket haul for 27 runs in 4 overs. "The first over didn't go according to plan as I was a bit too full but got the length right in my second over onwards. The pitch was good and gripped a little after the rain," Mustafizur said after the match.

Islamabad United's Paul Stirling was once again on song against Quetta Gladiators after notched up a fifty against the side in Karachi on Thursday. After being put in to bat, the Islamabad were off to a brisk start as openers Stirling and his partner Alex Hales put up 55 runs for the first wicket before Hales departed for 22 off 9 at the end of the fourth over. But Stirling continued his onslaught and went on to score 58 off 28 which included three maximums and seven fours during the course. He was eventually dismissed by Nawaz after being caught by Tanvir. The United batting unit was on fire as they had gathered 122 runs at the cost of 2 wickets in the first 10 overs with Colin Munro and Shadab Khan at the crease.
