  • Psl 2022 Quettas Mohammad Nawaz Ruled Out Of The Season Due To Foot Injury

PSL 2022 | Quetta's Mohammad Nawaz ruled out of the season due to foot injury

In a major blow to Quetta Gladiators, spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Nawaz, 27, has suffered a navicular bone fracture. The development was made public by the official Twitter handle of Quetta Gladiators on the eve of their encounter against hosts Lahore Qalandars.

The Gladiators will now place a request to PSL's technical committee following which his replacement will be announced.

The tweet stated, "Unwanted Update for QG fans: Quetta Gladiators all-rounder @mnawaz94 has been ruled out of the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) after suffering navicular bone undisplaced fracture. His replacement will be announced soon.

Nawaz's injury is a body blow for the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Gladiators given the fact that he has made decent contributions with both bat and ball this season.

The left-arm orthodox performed the role of a finisher brilliantly, scoring 78 runs at a blistering strike rate of 205.26. He also claimed six wickets in five outings.

Nawaz played a crucial role in Quetta's win in the last game against Lahore as he finished off the run-chase of 205 with an unbeaten 12-ball 15.

Speaking of Quetta, they will have to make a forced change hours before their next fixture against a power-packed Islamabad United on Saturday (February 12) as they aim to back up their five-wicket win with yet another commanding performance.

The Gladiators are currently at the fourth spot in the points table (2 wins and 3 defeats in 5 games) and with the season approaching its business end, another hiccup could prove fatal to their chances of making it to the knockouts.
