Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav to fly to UK from Sri Lanka on special provision: Report

The duo of Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who has been left in Sri Lanka after coming in close contact with Krunal Pandya, who tested Covid-19 positive, will fly to the United Kingdom on July 31, Cricbuzz reported.

They will be allowed to enter the country despite not being a British or Irish citizen and Sri Lanka still being on the red list by the UK government as the BCCI and the ECB have made use of the special provisions for elite sportspersons that allowed footballers and tennis players to enter the country for the Wimbledon grand slam.

India have travelled back to India leaving all the nine players including Krunal Pandya and players deemed in closed contacts.

Both Shaw and Yadav were selected as reinforcements for the Indian team in the aftermath of multiple injury concerns in the camp. India were already marred by the injury to Shubman Gill and the injuries to Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar in the practice game against Selected County XI, and injury clouds over the skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane compounded the concerns.

The first Test against England is scheduled to start on August 04 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, and keeping in mind the quarantine restrictions both Shaw and Yadav have to face, they would be eligible to play only by the third Test.

Proteas to tour Sri Lanka in September for white-ball series

The South African cricket team is expected to tour Sri Lanka for a white-ball series for the very first time since 2018. The Proteas will play three ODIs and as many T20s starting from September 2. The tour was confirmed by both the boards on July 30 (Friday). "We are delighted to have another tour confirmed for the Proteas men's team with the ICC T20 World Cup just around the corner," CSA Acting CEO, Pholetsi Moseki was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. "Playing against quality opposition in the subcontinent is the best way for our team to prepare for this event and we are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket for accommodating us during this time of the year where schedules are highly condensed. "With an ICC white-ball world event in each year of the next three, game time is golden for every team and we are looking forward to watching our team play as they continue to add to the building blocks of their 2021 T20 World Cup preparation,” Moseki added. In their previous tour to Sri Lanka, South Africa managed to win the ODI series by a 3-2 margin while the hosts managed to win the only T20I. Both these teams are in a transitional phase. While Sri Lanka managed to win their fist bilateral series since 2019, South Africa also won their previous T20I series against the defending world T20I champions West Indies and is hoping to continue their good work in the white-ball format. This particular tour will serve as a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup slated to be held in UAE between October-November. With so many new names across both teams, both teams will be seeking new options going forward in the showpiece event. Itinerary: Thursday, 02 September - 1st ODI Saturday, 04 September - 2nd ODI Tuesday, 07 September - 3rd ODI Friday, 10 September - 1st T20I Sunday, 12 September - 2nd T20I Tuesday, 14 September - 3rd T20I

The Hundred | Northern Superchargers vs Oval Invincibles: Where to watch Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

The Northern Superchargers head home once again and after having lost their first encounter at home, they would be looking for a change in fortunes. Their original skipper Faf du Plessis has been ruled out for the first three games and their stand-in skipper Ben Stokes is also out of action as he would be going out for national duties. The question for Superchargers now is to appoint a skipper for this game and most probably it will be Chris Lynn who would be given the opportunity to lead the side. While Oval has had a long break and their last game was a washout, the Superchargers’ kast game also ended in a washout and hence both the teams would love to start on a winning note once again. But who will be able to do that? Only time can tell.
