PCB deny reports of Ramiz Raja's conflict with Peshawar Zalmi's owner on PSL 8 hosting rights

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja was left fuming after Peshawar Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi had declared Peshawar as one of the venues to host the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

However, according to The News, security forces have not yet approved Arbab Niaz Stadium for conducting international matches. On top of it, Raja is not satisfied with the stadium's quality despite Afridi's rich claims; hence, Peshawar will not be considered as a venue for the upcoming season of the PSL.

However, PCB has denounced the media organisation for publishing a report without credibility. The board rubbished the story in its statement, terming it 'fake'.

"Pakistan Cricket Board has rubbished the story in Saturday's The News newspaper under the headline Raja declares Peshawar unfit to host PSL-8, terming it Fake," the statement released by PCB read.

Further, the release mentioned how the report is baseless and hampers the basic principles of respected journalism.

"The PCB said the game of cricket unites the nation and, as such, these baseless and speculative stories attributed to unidentified 'sources' and targeting the institution, its units, and its chair is unfair, unethical and contrary to the basic principles of responsible journalism," it added.
