Mumbai Indians’ start all-rounder brother duo of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya have decided to donate 200 oxygen concentrators in rural India to help in the country’s fight Coronavirus.
"Gratitude to all the medical staff, frontline workers and all the individuals who have come out and held their hands at such times to fight out the battle," Pandya told Star Sports ahead of the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings clash on May 2.
"Krunal, myself and my mother - basically our entire family - we were finding ways at trying to help out. We decided to donate 200 oxygen concentrators to the rural parts of India where I feel the medical infrastructure needs more support," he added.
India is going through its worst-ever health crisis with around 1 lakh positive cases being reported every day and more than 3000 people dying due to Covid-19. In such a situation, foreign cricketers like Pat Cummins, Brett Lee and Indian cricketers and IPL sides have come forward to help the citizens as much as they could.
So far, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have donated money and oxygen concentrators to help in the nation’s fight.
"We all understand it's difficult, we want to show our gratitude, support and just want to tell everyone that they're always there in our prayers," Hardik said.
