Pakistan skipper Babar Azam warned by PCB

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has found himself in hot waters with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Azam, who is currently attending a players' camp ahead of a cricket-heavy season for Pakistan, invited his brother and allowed him to use the facilities at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore.

A close source in the PCB stated that the board took notice of the video, where Babar and his brother are seen practising at the HPC.

"Babar came to the centre three-four days back with his brother, and this was before the conditioning camp had begun. And his brother later held nets which was brought to the notice of the board," he said to PTI.

He added that the 27-year-old was warned for his irresponsible behaviour and told not to repeat the same.

"He is our national team captain and the matter was handled in a manner where he was politely reminded about the situation and he agreed." he concluded.

Babar's brother Safeer Azam posted the viral video on his social media account. In the clip, Safeer was seen batting against new fast-bowling sensation Shahnawaz Dahani while the Test-skipper was taking note of the proceedings.

According to PCB policy, HPC can only be utilised by national, First-Class, or junior cricketers after gaining proper permission from the authorities. Furthermore, no family member or friend can accompany a player to the facility.

PCB have organised a two-week conditioning camp for 60 players from all across Pakistan, who will undergo training in batches of two. Pakistan are due to play West Indies in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series starting June 8. All ODIs are scheduled to be played at Rawalpindi Stadium.

Pakistan are also scheduled to make a short trip to Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in July, while the ODI leg was scrapped due to internal turmoil in the Emerald nation.
