Pakistan National T20 Cup 2022 Round Up, August 31

The Pakistan National T20 Cup 2022 saw a total of four teams engaging in two cracking encounters on Wednesday, August 31. Here is a look at the highlights from each of the two games: 

Sindh vs Northern 

Sindh continued their winning run in the tournament, having secured an easy 10-runs victory over Northern at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. 

Putting in to bat first, Sain Ayub shellacked 92 off just 52 balls to guide Sindh to 190 for 7. Besides Ayub, skipper Saud Shakeel smoked 20 runs off 18 balls while Saad Khan remained unbeaten for 26 from 17 deliveries.

The left-arm quick Sohail Tanvir was the most successful bowler for Northern, having picked up three wickets in his four overs quota.  

Chasing a victory target of 191 runs, Northern didn't have a great start as they lost both of their openers cheaply. The following batters did try to minimize the run difference, however, none of them could go past the 40-run mark. 

Nasir Nawaz was their top run-scorer with 39 runs from 21 balls. For Sindh, Mir Hamza (3/33) and Sohail Khan (2/38) starred with the ball.

Sindh won by 10 runs.


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Central Punjab

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa swatted aside Central Punjab by 18 runs to kick off their tournament campaign on a winning note. 

Taking the strike with the bat first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa went on to add 165 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in the first inning. 

Kamran Ghulam (39) and Mohammad Sarwar (30*) were the major contributors with the bat. The likes of Adil Amin (24) and Khalid Usman (22) also chipped in with handy knocks. 

On the bowling front, Ali Asfand was the most impactful bowler for Central Punjab, having scalped two wickets in his four overs' spell and giving away just 22 runs.

Chasing 166 for a victory, Tayyab Tahir bludgeoned 72 runs from just 45 balls but he didn't get enough support from the other end as the team eventually bundled out for 147 runs in 19.1 overs. 

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, M Imran Khan Sr shone bright with the ball, having claimed figures of 4 for 27, while Afridi and Imran Khan Jr scalped two wickets each.
