The Australian team is busy recovering with the bat on the 2nd day of 3rd Test against Pakistan at Lahore. The first session has already witnessed arguably the most bizarre moment of the series.
Australian wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey was adjudged 'out' after a scorching delivery from Hassan Ali, which somehow missed everything. Moreover, it was unclear whether the appeal was for lbw or caught behind.
Carey was strangely given out, although the nature of appeal was not clear. However, Carey went for review straightway, and the replays showed that the ball missed both the bat and pad. The bails also did not dislodge either, and everything just looked bizarre.
Former England batter and commentator Rob Key said, "Well, that is one of the more bizarre passages of plays, one of the more bizarre reviews."
He added, "Somehow it's missed everything ... that is unlucky." Fellow commentator Mike Haysman called the moment "absolutely unbelievable."
Meanwhile, the umpire's decision of giving the soft signal for 'out' also raised a few eyebrows. "I don't know how it goes from giving it out to this, a review with a soft signal of 'out'. That seems a little weird for a catch," Haysman said on-air.
To which Michael Kasprowicz replied, "I just wonder what they're appealing for because the ball bounced before it got to the keeper so it was never a catch. It was a confusing section of play there."
Carey was eventually dismissed for a well-made 67, after being adjudged leg-before from a Nauman Ali delivery.
Australia has already recovered from the last hour debacle of day one as they have not lost any wicket on day two so far. At the time of publishing, Australia registered 349 runs to their total for the loss of six wickets.
