Steve Smith added another feather to his cap on Thursday when he became the fastest cricketer to reach 8000 Test runs, shattering a record that has stood since 2010.


The 32-year-old Aussie batter has achieved this feat in 151 innings, eclipsing the previous best of 152 innings by the legendary Kumar Sangakkara.


Sachin Tendulkar is the third on the list, who reached the landmark in 154 innings. West Indian legend Gary Sobers is fourth on the list (157 innings), followed by Rahul Dravid (158).


The New South Wales born cricketer averages more than 60 in the longest format of the game and has the highest average in history for a minimum of 60 matches.


Talking about the game, Australia are currently batting at 202 for the loss of 2 wickets and have a healthy lead of 325 under their belt. Usman Khawaja has notched up his second hundred of the tour and has taken Australia to a secured position.
