PAK vs AUS | 1st Test | Day 4: Pakistan scalp important wickets but Australia continue fightback

Pakistan picked up crucial wickets on Day 4 of the first Test against Australia in Rawalpindi as the visitors ended the proceedings at 449/7, trailing by 27 runs. The start of play was delayed due to wet outfield but the spectators did get to see some live action between the two sides.

Australia began the day at 271/2 with Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne at the crease. The two batters added 40 runs before Labuschagne was dismissed for 90 by Shaheen Afirdi.

The right-hander edged one to Shafique who was stationed in the slips. His departure was then followed by the wicket of Travis Head, courtesy a brilliant catch from Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps. Head was out for 8 by Nauman Ali.

Smith was then joined by Cameron Green and the two batsmen made sure that they didn't lose any further wickets in the second session as Australia were 364/4 at Tea. They chipped in with a partnership of 81 runs for the fifth wicket before Green and Smith were sent back in quick succession.

Smith was also caught behind by Rizwan while trying for a sweep off Nauman for 78. Green on the other side, was caught by Iftikhar off Numan, missing out on a fifty by just two runs.

Later, Naseem Shah cleaned up Alex Carey for 19 to reduce the Aussie side to 444/7 before eventually ending the day. Nauman has so far picked up four wickets in the first innings.
