“No BCCI Official Spoke to curator Chatterjee before England Test in Chennai”, Says Board official

The reports of the curator in charge of the track for the first Test between India and England last year deliberately working against the interests of the Indian team were dismissed by a senior BCCI official on Monday. 

As per emerged reports, the curator Taposh Chatterjee was asked not to water and roll the pitch by the team management in-charge back then ahead of the Chennai Test. This was instructed to make the wicket drier so that it would start turning square from the very first day. Chatterjee allegedly didn’t go by the instructions, as a result of which the Chennai track turned out to be a flat one where the English batters, particularly Joe Root made merry and India lost the test eventually. 

However, the BCCI official has termed these allegations as ‘nonsense’. As per BCCI sources, the board is in no mood to investigate a match India lost fairly. Instead, the official has said that if this was the case, then the ones who were trying to force the curator to doctor the wicket of a WTC game should actually be probed. 

“If anyone from the erstwhile team management were trying to force the curator to doctor the strip set to be used for a World Test Championship game, then they are the ones that should be probed”, the BCCI official said.
