India batter Shreyas Iyer had a terrific run in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. The right-hander scored three unbeaten fifties on the trot and played a vital role in the home side’s 3-0 whitewash win against the Lankan Lions.
Talking about his performance, Shreyas insisted that he is not really thinking about the future and wants to cherish the moment but also added that he wants to capitalise on the opportunities that he is getting.
“Firstly, I want to cherish this moment, I have achieved a really good total in this T20I series. I want to relax a bit, give myself time and not think too much beyond,” he said during a virtual press conference.
"Coming not out in all three games is a commendable performance from my side, I am not keeping any expectations, if you see competition in our team, it is immense. I just want to enjoy each and every opportunity.”
"My mindset is to grab as many opportunities as I can and I maximize it. I am playing like I used to, there has been no special preparation,” he added.
India defeated Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I by 6 wickets after chasing down a target of 147 runs with more than three overs to spare with Iyer remaining unbeaten at 73 off 45.
