Mujeeb Ur Rahman failed to join Middlesex due to Visa delays, Pieter Malan to arrive on June 20

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has failed to join Middlesex for the remainder of the summer as he will not be able to join the club amid visa issues.

The 21-year-old mystery spinner was supposed to play for Middlesex from the beginning of the T20 Blast in May but could not come over in time due to the same visa issues. As a result, the club signed Australian off-spinner Chris Green as a partial replacement and hoped Mujeeb would make it for the remainder of the season after the conclusion of Afghanistan's limited overs series against Zimbabwe.

Afghanistan released Mujeeb early, after the ODI series, so he can make it to the UK as early as possible to be available for Middlesex's next fixture.

However, the situation has not changed, and following further delays, the club confirmed that he would not be joining Middlesex this summer.

"We've had to draw a line under Mujeeb coming over this year," said Alan Coleman, Middlesex's head of men's performance cricket.

"Mujeeb has done all he can to get here. Through no fault of his own, with the visa situation across the world at the moment, it has put a delay on him getting here, and one he has not been able to overcome."

Chris Green, who the club brought in as a partial replacement for Mujeeb, will be continuing his tenure for the remainder of the season. He has taken eight wickets with the ball and scored 108 runs, batting down the order in the first half of the T20 Blast this season.

Meanwhile, South African batter Pieter Malan will be arriving on June 20 and will be available for selection in the next Championship fixture against Nottinghamshire.

Middlesex signed Pieter Malan for the rest of the summer as a replacement for Australia's Peter Handscomb, who will not be returning to the club for the rest of the summer.

There has been constant chaos on Malan's status following the club's first defeat of the season against Derbyshire on Tuesday (June 14).

The club confirmed that Malan could not come early due to regulations, allowing counties to have only three overseas players registered.

Mujeeb Ur Rahaman, Chris Green and Jason Behrendorff were registered for the club at the time of Malan's signing. Therefore, with Mujeeb not joining the club anymore, Malan is allowed to be registered and will be available for the next championship game on June 26.
