Mohammad Rizwan rejoins Sussex for Vitality T20 Blast 2022

The Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has rejoined the Sussex team for the remaining matches of the 2022 edition of T20 Blast.

The official social media account of Sussex Cricket has shared the same development on Twitter. Along with Rizwan, Rashid Khan has been added to the squad as well, who is coming into this tournament after doing well in the IPL and the bilateral series against Zimbabwe.

The team’s post on social media read, "Our squad for the next two T20 matches against Essex and Glamorgan. Rizwan and Rashid are back.”

In December 2021, the 30-year-old became the fourth Pakistani player to sign a contract to feature in English domestic cricket. Rizwan has made himself available for Sussex from April until mid-July 2022, with no hectic international schedule in these months.

During his five innings in the County Championship Division Two, Rizwan has amassed 136 runs at an average of 27.20, with a top score of 79.

Thereafter, he joined the Pakistan squad for the ODI series against West Indies. In his three innings against the Windies, Rizwan accumulated 85 runs at an average of 28.33.

The Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2021 will be available for Sussex’s league fixture against Essex on Friday night, and will look to make his mark immediately.

In the T20 Blast 2022, Sussex have secured three victories in eight league games and are in sixth position in the points table. They need to win most of their remaining games in order to stand a chance of making it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The additions of Rizwan and Rashid should boost the team’s morale for the upcoming matches.
