England bowler Ollie Robinson was suspended from the second Test against New Zealand after his racist and sexist tweets that he had posted a few years back when he was a teenager resurfaced. A lot of players have come under the scrutiny and to add to the list are members from the Kolkata Knight Riders.
England captain Eoin Morgan, wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler and former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum were involved in an exchange where they were mocking the Indian accent.
KKR CEO Venky Mysore though hasn’t made any comments on the same. "We don't know enough about it to comment at this time. Let's wait for the process to be completed to get all the facts before we jump to any conclusions. Just to reiterate, the Knight Riders organisation has 'zero tolerance' for any sort of discrimination," Mysore told Cricbuzz.
"Although there are questions over the precise context of the tweets, they were written at a time when Buttler and Morgan were established England players and have caused offence on social media," a report in UK Telegraph said
The England Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also ordered an investigation. "Since we were alerted to offensive tweets last week, a number of historical social media posts by other individuals have been questioned publicly as well. There is no place for discrimination in our sport, and we are committed to taking relevant and appropriate action where required,” ECB said in a statement.
