After announcing the signing of Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf on December 07, the Melbourne Stars unveiled yet another big signing for this season as they announced getting West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell on board. Russell is already in Sydney and will be available for five games of the season starting with the first one against Sydney Thunder on Friday, December 10.
The 33-year-old Jamaican who has so far played 387 T20 games and scored more than 6000 runs at a strike rate of almost 170 and taken 343 wickets has previously represented the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades in the BBL. This however will be his first time with the Stars.
Melbourne Stars Coach, David Hussey said was elated with the signing. He said, “To have someone of Andre's quality play for the Melbourne Stars is a huge signing for our club.”
“We want our Stars family to watch the best players in action at the MCG and Andre is world-class. I can't wait to work with him in the time that he's here and look forward to his debut on Friday night,” Hussey added.
