Liam Livingstone all set to join Rajasthan Royals for second phase of IPL 2021

Amidst pull out by top English players from the second phase of IPL 2021, Liam Livingstone, the swashbuckling England middle-order batsman has made himself available for the second phase of IPL starting from 19th September. Livingstone has been a revelation in the shortest format of the game and recently notched up the fastest T20I century by an Englishman.

Taking to their Twitter handle, Rajasthan Royals confirmed about the availability of the hard-hitting batsman. Meanwhile, it must be noted that top brass English players like Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan have pulled out of the tournament. However, the reason behind their pullout is yet to be disclosed.

Meanwhile, Livingstone has been in staggering form off late. After finishing as the leading run-getter in the T20I series against Pakistan, he went onto amass most runs even in the inaugural Hundred. It was his heroics with the bat which led Birmingham Pheonix to the final but an unfortunate run out cost them the tournament.

IPL 2021 | Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav return to Mumbai Indians camp

As soon as the fifth and final Test between England and India was “cancelled”, the focus shifted to the second part of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League which is scheduled to take off in the UAE from September 19. There were discussions and expectations that players, especially the Indian ones will be flowing to the UAE directly from Manchester and later it was reported that the players will be flying on a chartered flight. Mumbai Indians are the first among other IPL sides to welcome their star players in skipper Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah among the squad to restart their defence of the title. Both Rohit and Bumrah have been the lynchpins of Mumbai Indians’ success in the history of IPL and the side have won as many as five IPL trophies after Rohit took over the reins from Ricky Ponting in 2013. Both of them have also been the best player for India in their respective departments in the series against England the Mumbai team management would be hoping they would replicate their performances in the shortest format as well. The Mumbai Indians will take on the Chennai Super Kings in the first encounter of the revamped version of the IPL this year. Indian players refused to play the Manchester Test after the second physio Yogesh Parmar tested Covid-19 positive after arriving in the city for the final Test. India’s refusal to play created a chaotic situation for both the ECB and the BCCI for the final decision on the game and the series. Indian players have also been blamed for prioritising the “money” they would be earning from IPL over Test cricket by some section of UK media.

CPL 2021 | JT vs GAW: Crucial points at stake as Amazon Warriors look to get past Tallawahs

The ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League has reached it’s the business end and every match from here on will be very crucial for the franchises in line to get through to the knockout stage. It will be the Jamaica Tallawahs who will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors at Warner Park in St. Kitts in the 26th match of the competition. Both teams have won four games each but the Tallawahs have got an extra game and will look to solidify their position in the top four. On the other hand, the Amazon Warriors are at the 5th position with four wins and four losses and a win against Tallawahs will give them a huge boost and will ensure their qualification to the next round. The Tallawahs were given a reality check by defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders but came back strongly against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to get back to winning ways. They carried the momentum in the next game thrashing the St Lucia Kings by 55 runs. After going down in a couple of consecutive matches, the Jamaica Tallawahs have changed their tide after winning back to back games. With the playoffs just around the corner, the Tallawahs have risen at the correct time and will look to continue their winning momentum. Coming to the Guyana Amazon Warriors, they have had an indifferent run in the tournament so far having won four out of the 8 matches they have played so far. They have a fifty per cent record even in their last four encounters. They did manage to script a win against the St Lucia Kings in the previous encounter after managing to defend a score of 151. Guyana have produced some exceptional performances from individuals in patches but haven’t been consistent in all the departments. With three teams tied on eight points, it will be a must-win contest for both teams to make an easy pathway for the playoffs. Match Details: Jamaica Tallawahs vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Venue: Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts Date and Time: September 12th, 12:00 AM IST TV and live streaming: Starts Sports 1 and Fancode Pitch Report The surface on offer at St Kitt’s has been spin-friendly but if batsmen get in they can score big. Run scoring isn’t that difficult but the pitch will offer grip and turn for the spinners. We have seen scores between 150-200 this tournament so far which suggests that the pitch is not that bad for batting. It might not be a belter of a wicket with spinners having a major say in the game. Weather Report The weather report for the 26th encounter isn’t a pleasing one for the fans. There is prediction for shower but it should only be a passing one. Temperature is expected to hover around 30 to 32 degrees. IPL bound players to fly out to UAE via charter flight

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to arrange charter flights for the IPL bound players who are currently in the UK. The players who are currently in Manchester will be flying out to UAE on Saturday. The final Test between England and India had to be cancelled after a covid scare in the Indian contingent. Now with the match abandoned, the Indian players are waiting eagerly to join their IPL franchises and be in a stricter bio-bubble. The second half of the IPL kicks off on September 19. “The players will be flying out to UAE today itself. BCCI has coordinated with the franchises and arranged charter flights. Few of the franchises had already made some arrangements with commercial flights on Friday itself,” a BCCI official told TOI on Saturday morning. Meanwhile all the Indian and the English players who will take part in the IPL are in isolation in a hotel in Manchester and will continue to be in their hotel rooms until their departure for UAE. “Technically, there had been no bubble during the series. The players will have to serve a six-day quarantine upon reaching UAE. So, the earlier they leave Manchester the less time they will have to spend in isolation. The franchises will take better care of the players,” a franchise official told TOI. The players had a very tough time in the last 48 hours with several players not managing a good sleep as they waited for BCCI and ECB to come to a conclusion after their physio Yogesh Parmar contracted the virus. Meanwhile, Onecricket learns that the travel plans either by a charter or a commercial flight won’t really matter as all the players have to undergo a six-day self-isolation after reaching the middle east nation.
