Delhi Capitals (DC) have emerged as the team to beat in IPL 2025, securing five wins in six matches to top the points table. Their all-round dominance, featuring clinical batting, incisive bowling, and sharp fielding, has solidified their status as playoff favourites.

The squad’s camaraderie is equally noteworthy, with lighthearted banter and a relaxed atmosphere reflecting their confidence. A recent practice session in Ahmedabad ahead of their clash against Gujarat Titans showcased this unity, as players shared laughs while preparing for the high-stakes encounter.

Rahul’s Wit Burns Pietersen With Brutal Dig

During DC’s practice session at the Narendra Modi Stadium, KL Rahul playfully mocked mentor Kevin Pietersen’s mid-season vacation. When GT skipper Shubman Gill asked Pietersen to explain a mentor’s role, Rahul interjected, "Mentor is someone who goes to Maldives for two weeks, mid-season."

The jab referenced Pietersen’s break during DC’s April 10 match against RCB, sparking laughter from the group. The team’s official social media later shared the moment, captioning it, “Thanks KL, now we know what a mentor does.”

Clash of Titans Headlines DC-GT Blockbuster

Meanwhile, Friday’s marquee clash between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans promises fireworks, with Mitchell Starc’s death-bowling mastery set to duel Mohammed Siraj’s precision. DC, fresh off a thrilling Super Over win against Rajasthan Royals, will bank on Starc’s ability to deliver under pressure, evident in his 10 wickets this season and a nerveless Super Over performance.

GT, meanwhile, will rely on Siraj’s disciplined economy and Shubman Gill’s leadership. The match also reignites Starc’s rivalry with Jos Buttler, adding another layer to this top-of-the-table showdown.

Starc’s lethal yorkers, which dismantled Rajasthan’s chase, will face a stern test against GT’s in-form trio, Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Buttler. DC’s pace unit, bolstered by Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma, aims to exploit Ahmedabad’s batting-friendly track.
