  • Kent Pacer Jackson Bird Ruled Out From County Championship After Torn Tendon

Kent Pacer Jackson Bird ruled out from County Championship after torn tendon

Australian International cricketer Jackson Bird's stint with Kent has been temporarily cut short due to an injury. The 35-year-old has returned to Australia.

Jackson was scheduled to feature in the county's first six red ball matches of the season. But unfortunately, he ended up with a torn tendon in his shoulders while plying his trade against Hampshire.

Kent suffered an innings defeat in the encounter, with Jackson also missing the subsequent draw with Yorkshire this past week.

The Aussie emerged as a star performer in Kent's clash with Essex as he picked up three wickets on his debut. However, the next two matches did not go according to plan for the bowler as he failed to provide breakthroughs for his team.

Kent Head Coach Matt Walker spoke on Kent Online and explained that the recovery would take a considerable amount of time for the pacer.

"Not a great injury. It's going to take a huge amount of rehab, and he wouldn't be fit for his remaining time with us anyway. So, he's gone home."

Grant Stewart, who was serving his loan period at Sussex, was called back by Kent following Bird's injury. Stewart also suffered a hamstring injury while bowling for Kent and was forced to use a runner at Headingly. As far as Bird is concerned, the injury marks his latest in recent times.

He was also ruled out for the first half of the Australian summer due to an Achilles injury which saw him sit out of the Big Bash.
