MS Dhoni arrives in Chennai; IPL training camp likely to begin from March 9

Former India captain MS Dhoni has reached Chennai for CSK’s training camp likely to begin from March 9. Dhoni arrived in Chennai on Wednesday and will be quarantined for five days. CSK tweeted a picture of Dhoni at the airport and wrote: “Thalai-Vaa! Smile with the Mass(k) on! Super Night! #DenComing #WhistlePodu #Yellove.” CSK CEO K S Viswanathan said that the camp is likely to begin from March 9. “Yeah…the camp is likely to start from March 9. Whoever is available would take part in the training sessions,” he told PTI. “The players will undergo five-day quarantine before they start training. Also, they will have to return three negative tests…,” he added. A franchise official had earlier confirmed that Dhoni would be attending the camp. “Yes, we are expecting all players to start coming in batches. Captain MS Dhoni will be available and attending the camp from day one. Players availability should not be an issue. We are very hopeful that the camp will successfully begin and we will strictly follow the same bio-bubble protocol and no additional measures are required to be taken at this stage. We have put in place stringent health and safety protocols for the camp and all the participants will follow mandatory testing,’ a franchise official confirmed to Inside Sport. CSK faced few problems last year after a number of cricketers including players like Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad were tested positive for COVID-19. The Kings bought Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Cheteshwar Pujara in the recently-concluded mini auctions in Chennai last month. CSK had a dismal run in the last edition of the IPL after they were knocked out of the tournament in the league stage itself. This was the first time when CSK didn’t make it to the playoffs.

Breaking: PSL 2021 postponed after episodes of Covid-19 outbreak

The ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been postponed with immediate effect after episodes of Coronavirus outbreak across franchises in the last few days. As many as seven players and one support staff have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus infection so far in the league and there was pressure mounting on the Pakistan Cricket Board. Following the latest episode of the Covid-19 outbreak in two franchises, the PCB offered foreign players an option to leave the tournament midway, before pulling the plug on the whole tournament itself.

There is no end to crises in the sight of the Pakistan Cricket Board as the number of cases is only rising with each passing days in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). After the initial reporting of three covid-19 cases, three more cases have been reported across the franchises in the PSL, but the PCB said that none of the new cases have been reported from the four franchises that took part in the double-headers on Wednesday. However, the board has not revealed the names and franchises which have reported Covid-19 cases. The PCB further said that it will hold a virtual meeting with all the franchise owners and managements to decide the future course of action. Looking at the Covid-19 situations out of its control, the PCB has allowed foreign players to leave the tournament midway, per a report by Cricket Pakistan. Karachi Kings player Daniel Christian and Team Director Wasim Akram have made up his mind to leave the league and country after the nod from the PCB, the report added.
