  • Kane Richardson Replaces Billy Stankale At Queensland For Sheffield Shield 2022

Kane Richardson replaces Billy Stankale at Queensland for Sheffield Shield 2022

South Australian pacer Kane Richardson has signed up with the Queensland Bulls ahead of the next season of the Sheffield Shield.

Richardson has joined Queenlands following an off-season discussion with head coach Wade Seccombe. The right-arm seamer, who has represented Australia in 25 ODIs and 30 T20Is thus far, will replace injury-prone Billy Stanlake.

Stanlake has represented Australia in 26 limited-overs fixtures but has suffered from injuries in the last 2-3 seasons. The tall pacer missed out on the previous edition of the Sheffield Shield due to a stress fracture in his back.

Meanwhile, Queensland have decided to elevate seamer Gurinder Sandhu in the pecking order following an excellent season last summer.

Sandhu, who made his debut for Australia back in 2015, played six games last summer and bagged 25 wickets @ 19.16 apiece with the help of a couple of five-wicket-hauls.

The Bulls have also recruited left-arm seamer Liam Guthrie from Western Australia, while batsman Jack Clayton has been awarded a full-term contract. Fast bowler Connor Sully has also been upgraded following his maiden FC and List A stints last season.

Queensland had a poor season last summer as they could only manage just two victories in nine outings, and they'd hope that the latest signings will help them shrug off the disappointment of the last season when they take the field this summer.
