England and Sunrisers Hyderabad new recruit Jason Roy will miss the first two matches for the franchise. Roy who landed in India on April 10 will have to serve a mandatory seven-day quarantine.
SRH will play a couple of games during this period, the first against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 11 in Chennai and then against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 14 at the same venue.
The right-handed batsman might be eligible for the match against MI that is scheduled to take place on April 17 in Chennai as well.
The England batsman was a part of the Gujarat Lions (2017) and Delhi Capitals (2018) while opted out of the 2020 edition’s IPL due to personal reasons. The right-handed batsman has played 8 matches scoring 179 runs during the course.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had acquired Roy at his base price of INR 2 Crore. The Englishman replaced Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh in the squad who had earlier opted out of the tournament.
Roy was among some runs in the recently-concluded T20I series against India where he notched up 144 runs in 5 matches.
SRH begin their IPL 2021 campaign against KKR on Sunday in Chennai.
