James Anderson is fit and ready for England Test recall

James Anderson has announced himself fit and ready to earn his spot back in England’s Test side saying he is in ‘good shape and in good form’.

With the recent appointment of Brendon McCullum as coach and Ben Stokes as captain, Anderson has a really good chance to earn a recall to the Test side for the three-test match series against New Zealand in June.

It was the month of February earlier this year when Anderson and his fellow paceman Stuart Broad were left out from the Test side by the newly formed selection panel of Andrew Strauss, Paul Collingwood and James Taylor. Root was still incharge of the Test side when the veteran pacer was asked to sit out from the tour of the Caribbean.

Since then the 39-year-old set his target to earn his spot back by performing for Lancashire, early in the season.

"The way things have been going over the winter, I set my mind on trying to bowl well for Lancashire and put in performances that selectors would take note of. For most of the year I have been thinking about trying to start the season well for Lancashire and preparing for that,” the veteran pacer told Sky Sports.

Timeless Anderson has been one of the finest of this generation. He is currently the leading wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket as a seamer and even performed in his last outing in the Ashes. The Lancashire pacer doesn't want to leave any stone unturned ahead of the team announcement later this week.

"I don’t want to be counting my chickens, I want to make sure I am bowling well, taking wickets and in good form if and when that call comes. I am just keeping my fingers crossed for later in the week as it is something that every cricket player wants to do is play for England,” the Lancashire seamer added.

"I feel in good shape, in good form, so I am happy with the way things are going and I will be absolutely delighted if I do get back into the team," he added.

Anderson is currently playing in the County Championship for Lancashire and took 11 wickets at an average of 19.54 in three games. Anderson's amazing display of bowling took the attention of the cricketing world once again when the Lancashire quick bowled a ripper to knock over Joe Root’s stumps in the match against rival Yorkshire.

With the newly appointed England’s skipper Ben Stokes showing his interest in getting back the legendary duo into the Test side, the chances of Anderson getting back into the side looks very much possible.
