Ireland district league batsman John Glass hits 6 sixes to chase down 35 in the last over

It’s not often that a batsman hit six sixes in an over and that too in the last over of the game to win his side a game. Whenever moments like those occur on a cricket field, it leads to widespread recognition of players irrespective of the level of the game they pull off such feat.

One such occurrence took place in an Ireland district club game when Ballymena batsman John Glass smashed the Cregagh club bowler for sixes on all deliveries of the last over and won his club a game that seemed to have gone away.

What made the feat more special as he was the stand-in skipper of Ballymena and the sides were competing in the finals of this year’s Lagan Valley Steels tournament.

Chasing the target, Ballymena needed 35 runs in the last over to lift the trophy and Glass took a liking to the bowler and deposit all his deliveries out of the ground.

Six sixes in one over have been one of the rarest of rare events in the game of cricket and there are very few batsmen who have been able to get the maximum result out of an over.
