IPL 2022: Promo featuring MS Dhoni as bus conductor red-flagged by ASCI

In the latest development, an IPL promo featuring former India and Chennai Super Kings former skipper MS Dhoni has been red-flagged and will be subsequently withdrawn following a complaint received by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).

Ahead of the 15th season of the cash-rich tournament, the Indian Premier League released a promo where MS Dhoni, who is playing the role of a bus conductor, stops the bus in the middle of the road.

When the traffic police officer asks Dhoni the reason behind his decision to suddenly stop the bus amid heavy traffic, he points out to television sets, where a Super Over from the IPL was in progress.

Dhoni said that he and the passengers want to watch the 'Super Over', and much to the surprise of everyone, the police officer accepts the reasoning and drives past them.

Following the launch of the advertisement, Road Safety Organization took cognizance of the matter and approached ASCI.

The complaint, filed by Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS), has been upheld, meaning that the controversial ad will now be taken down before April 20, the Times of India reported.

Meanwhile, the ongoing season of the IPL has proved to be a disastrous one for the defending champions.

They are yet to win a single game thus far after three outings, and one of the major reasons behind that has been the poor form of Ruturaj Gaikwad, an inconsistent batting unit and a toothless bowling attack- sans Deepak Chahar.

The Super Kings are desperate for a revival, and they will look to bag crucial two points to get off the mark when they take on the SunRisers Hyderabad at the D.Y Patil Stadium on Saturday.
