  • Ipl 2022 Prithvi Shaw Fined 25 Of His Match Fee For Breaching Ipl Code Of Conduct

IPL 2022 | Prithvi Shaw fined 25% of his match fee for breaching IPL 'Code of Conduct'

Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw has been reprimanded for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Sunday's fixture against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The blistering opener has been fined 25% of his match fee.

According to the official statement, Shaw has admitted to Level 01 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to 'offensive gestures' towards the officials or the opposition.

The statement read:

"Mr Shaw admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,"

"For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding. Level 1 offence pertains to gestures towards umpires or opposition,"

"Article 2.2 relates to the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings,"

"For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board."

Shaw was dismissed on a 7-ball five after he top-edged a bumper from Dushmantha Chameera during Delhi's run-chase of 196 against the Super Giants.

Blistering knocks from Mitchell Marsh, skipper Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and Axar Patel kept DC in the hunt, but none of those batters stayed long enough to make a lasting impact.

The Super Giants rode on half-centuries from KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda to post 195 in 20 overs, a target they eventually defended despite a late threat from Axar and Kuldeep.
