IPL 2022 | Mumbai Indians signs Dhawal Kulkarni for left-over season

Amidst a horrible season, Mumbai Indians (MI), in a bid to strengthen their bowling line-up, have roped in the services of veteran medium-pacer Dhawal Kulkarni for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

As per a PTI report, Kulkarni has already entered the bio-bubble of the team and will soon begin his training. With the Mumbai-based franchise already in dire straits, he may be straightaway put into action if he shows good signs in the practice sessions.

The under-performing pace unit has contributed to Mumbai Indians' horrid IPL campaign, with the side setting an unwanted record of eight defeats in a total of eight matches in the ongoing season.

MI's spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is having his worst season since 2017 in terms of both economy and wickets. The speedster has managed to claim only five scalps in eight games at an economy of 7.55 so far in the 15th edition of the tournament.

Rest of the bowling line-up has witnessed regular changes, with Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi and Daniel Sams some of the prominent names in a never-ending list.

Kulkarni went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction, and then joined the commentary team of the official broadcaster.

The 33-year-old was a part of the MI squad in the earlier IPL editions. He has also represented Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions in the cash-rich league.

Kulkarni has the experience of 92 IPL matches to his name and has taken 86 wickets since making his debut in 2008.
