IPL 2022 | GT vs SRH - Fantasy Tips

The two teams who were written off before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, are set to go up against each other in an edge-of-a-seat thriller. Both teams have shut the mouths of the critics by performing consistently and announcing themselves as big contenders for the trophy.

Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat have been the talk of the town for a while because of their sensational performance in their debut season. The Hyderabad-based franchise, on the other hand, have turned around their season in some astonishing fashion. SRH franchise lost their first two fixtures, but everything seems to work according to the plan since then as they are on a five-match winning streak.

The pitch at Wankhede Stadium is known for its consistent bounce and true nature. The batters tend to love the ball coming onto the bat, and with a lightning-fast outfield, the batters get full value for their shots. The dew also plays a massive factor at the venue, and the team that wins the toss tends to bowl first.

Based on the performances of individual players and their value, we have prepared a list of 11 players for you.

Wicketkeeper

Nicholas Pooran: Pooran and Saha are two options for the wicketkeeping slot. Neither of them is in form, but to be honest, it is not that difficult because Pooran is capable of causing havoc and gets the node ahead of the SRH keeper.

Batters

Rahul Tripathi: With 212 runs at a strike of over 170 in seven matches, Tripathi has been absolutely sensational and seems to be the go-to man for SRH at this point in time.

Shubman Gill: The India Test batter has been hot and cold in this season. He started the season in fine fashion, but hasn’t lived up to the expectations in the last few fixtures. Gill is expected to use the batting-friendly conditions at the Wankhede and bounce back to form.

David Miller: A few years back, Miller used to be the most dangerous batters in the IPL; but it seemed the Proteas batter has lost his charm of late. However, he seems to have found his mojo and is currently the second-highest run-scorer for GT.

Kane Williamson: Williamson hasn’t had the season that one expects from him, but the Kiwi batter has done enough to ensure his team gets over the line. The New Zealand skipper will surely want to contribute more with the bat in hand. And with pace being in GT bowlers’ arsenal, it looks like an excellent opportunity for him.

All-rounders

Hardik Pandya: With 295 runs in 6 innings, Hardik Pandya has been a revelation for GT. The skipper has led from the front, and he makes our fantasy team without a doubt.

Bowlers

Rashid Khan: Playing against your former team gives you an added motivation to perform, and that’s a significant reason to have the Afghan spin king in our team. With just eight wickets in 7 matches, Khan is yet to prove himself this season and what better occasion than your former team that decided to let you go.

T.Natarajan: One of the leading wicket-takers in the tournament, Natarajan has been the best death bowler. He has 15 wickets in 7 matches, and I think I don’t need to justify his inclusion in the team.

Marco Jansen: Jansen tore apart the top order of RCB in the last fixture and will be eager to replicate his performance. The young left-arm pacer will cause some trouble with the extra bounce he extracts due to his height.

Umran Malik: When was the last time you saw any Indian pacer trouble overseas batters with the raw pace? It is a rare sight, and what if I tell you that Umran Malik is no longer just pace; he has found the line and length to go past the best in the business.

Captain: Hardik Pandya

Vice-Captain: T.Natarajan

England Cricket Board hosts first-ever Iftar event at Lord's

April 21 turned out to be a momentous day for the Muslim community with a welcome step from the England Cricket Board (ECB). The ECB organized its first-ever Iftar party in the Long Room of the Lord's Cricket Ground to bridge the gap between the sport and the Muslim community. Commentators Aatif Nawaz and Tameena Hussain acted as the event hosts, with the England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan marking his presence as well. After the racism scandal of Azeem Rafiq at the Yorkshire Cricket Club, the board has been trying to promote inclusion and diversity in sports. The attendees hailed ECB's move to unite the Muslim community and improve their image on the international stage. The Muslim and non-Muslim guests shared an evening meal after the sunset and broke the day's fast. Iman Rahman of London Central Mosque recited the Maghrib prayer. Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi lauded the efforts of the ECB and expressed his thoughts on Sky Sports' video of the event on Twitter. "It's indeed an incredible step and must be thoroughly appreciated and acknowledged by all. Kudos to England Cricket Board for coming forward in reconnecting with the Muslim community," said Afridi. "To hear Azaan in the long room, home of cricket, it really gave me goosebumps, and I will remember it for a long time. Well done to the ECB and the whole team, and the steps like these really start making feel like the game is starting to shift in a different direction," Azeem mentioned in the video. In the same clip, Morgan said, "In the England white-ball team, we have had an amazing diverse squad, and we've got a fantastic changeroom. The players get to learn about different cultures, faiths, backgrounds, countries." "But outside of our own group, we need to get better to show the support to the local communities, and today Ramadan being a huge part of the year for Muslims, it's great we can home here and be a part," Morgan concluded.
