IPL 2022 | CSK vs MI | Fantasy Tips

It's the battle of the titans tonight as the two most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League will lock horns against each other to get two points to their name.

Five-time champion Mumbai Indians have been desperate to open their tally on the points table after suffering six consecutive defeats in a row. Their arch-rivals Chennai are no better in this regard, with just a single win to their name in their last six fixtures.

Both the sides are languishing at the bottom of the league standings, and we could see some sparks fly as these two sides battle it out amongst themselves to find a much-awaited win.

After some meticulous planning and consideration, we have prepared a list of names that could give you significant benefits in the fantasy contests tonight.

The Godfather: Your heart says yes, But the stats say no!

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)

Dhoni is one of the most loved superstars who has ever graced the game. However, it is not hard to realise that the player is way out of his prime.

Even if the player has some juice left in him, he bats way down the batting order, and it would be a mistake to select the legendary wicketkeeper in your fantasy lineup.

Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians)

The Caribbean legend bid his adieu to international cricket just yesterday and will continue to feature in franchise cricket. However, the big man from West Indies has been struggling with the bat lately and has made no essential contribution with his bowling.

Pollard finds himself amongst the all-rounder's category, which is packed with a plethora of superstars who can provide you with a lot better rewards in comparison to the West Indian.

The Emperor: You just can't miss out on these big names

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians)

Suryakumar has been in terrific form for his franchise and might be their only silver lining so far this season. With 200 runs to his name in four innings, the player has batted with a strike rate of 153.85. Surya will give you a heavy boost in points if present in your fantasy lineup.

Shivam Dubey (Chennai Super Kings)

Shivam Dubey has been a surprise this season, donning the colours of the yellow army. The player has been great with the bat so far, and Chennai will hope that the player can continue his red hot form with the bat and contribute with the ball, which has been his weak side so far.

The Stable Beast: Consistent players who can give maximum returns on their day

Robin Uthappa (Chennai Super Kings)

Robbie has just revamped his entire career at the Yellow Army, breathing a new life into his franchise. Robin has scored 197 runs for his franchise so far, with a high score of 88 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their only winning effort.

Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings)

DJ Bravo has been the cornerstone of the defending champions ever since joining the franchise and has played his part to perfection this season. The veteran has already picked up ten wickets to his name in the last six games and has been economical bowling in the death overs.

The Unsung Hero: Effective players flying under the radar

Tilak Verma (Mumbai Indians)

Tilak has been one of the biggest finds for the Mumbai Indians this season. The nineteen-year-old has been in tremendous form this season, scoring 219 runs so far, with a strike rate above 152. Apart from his duck against the Royal Challengers, the player has displayed a fine touch with the bat on all occasions.

Maheesh Theeksana (Chennai Super Kings)

In their last two games, the Sri Lankan mystery spinner has been super effective for the Super Kings. After ending wicketless in his debut against the Sunrisers, the player has picked up six wickets for his side in the last two games, including a four-wicket haul wicket in the last game.

The Double Dealer: Double the risk, Double the rewards

Moeen Ali (Chennai Super Kings)

The English all-rounder has been out of his usual colour this season, and his side is still waiting on him to deliver on the big stage. He has been ineffective both with the bat and the bowl for his side and will be looking for that one opportunity to make his presence known.

Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians)

Mumbai Indians are still banking on their skipper to pull them out of their winless drought this season, and the superstar has many hopes on his shoulders. Rohit has scored just 114 names so far in the tournament and will have to pull the big guns out before it's too late for the Mumbai Indians.

The Shooting Star: Young names looking to make an impact

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)

Ruturaj has been a shadow of his former self this season. However, the player has made a strong comeback in the last game against Gujarat Titans, scoring 73 runs off 48 deliveries. Ruturaj is like a well-oiled machine that needs ignition, and it from the looks of it, the player has got the start he was looking for.

Dewald Brevis (Mumbai Indians)

Dewald Brevis has been explosive with the bat this season. The young South African has been hammering the ball all across the park with a strike rate of 172.06 this season. However, the player will need to convert this short inning into a big knock, as his side is still looking for their first win.

'There is a lot more cricket left in Pollard': Sunil Narine on Pollard's retirement

On Wednesday, the West Indies limited-overs team captain, Kieron Pollard, announced his retirement from international cricket. He finished with 224 appearances across ODIs and T20Is, with a total of 4275 runs under his belt, including three centuries. Pollard led the West Indies team to a 3-2 series victory against England earlier this year and has undoubtedly ended his career on a high. Talking about Polly's retirement, West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Sunil Narine reckoned that he would have given so much more to the West Indies cricket in terms of leadership and finishing capabilities. "It's sad, I think he has much more to give to the West Indies, but I think he himself has to know when it's time, and that's what is important," said Narine in a video posted by Trinbago Knight Riders on Instagram. The players feature together for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Narine has been featuring for TKR since 2016, while the franchise availed the services of Pollard in 2019. Also, the two have represented Trinidad and Tobago for several years together. "I wish him all the best in his future endeavours and whatever tournament he is playing, and I'm sure he will have lots of success. He still has a good fan base, and I hope he enjoys it," Narine added. The wily spinner feels Pollard is loved by many in the West Indies, but he knows about himself the best. The spinner further thinks Pollard will focus on playing more franchise T20 leagues worldwide. "They love to see him play in West Indies, but he knows best. So I think he will focus more on T20 cricket around the world, and I think he enjoys it a lot," the tweaker added. In the last part of the video, Narine is hopeful that it's not the end of Pollard's career and will continue to excite the cricket fans in the coming years. "There is a lot more cricket in Pollard. But, it's not the end, and I am definitely sure that there is more excitement to come," Narine concluded. Over the years, Pollard has proved himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his ball-striking capabilities and has been one of the key performers to help the Mumbai Indians (MI) team clinch trophies on five occasions. However, he has been able to score only 82 runs in six innings of the ongoing edition of IPL.
