IPL 2022 | Another umpiring howler leaves Sanju Samson in disbelief

The umpiring standards in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been below par this season. The fans and commentators have been criticising the standards in the ongoing edition and poor standard was once again witnessed in the game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

The match saw a dramatic finish as the Knight Riders managed to end their five match losing streak courtesy of match winning knocks from Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana.

However, Rajasthan were in control of the match till the eighteenth over, but two unsavoury decisions from the on-field umpire turned the tides in favour of the chasing sides. RR skipper, Sanju Samson looked disappointed at the decisions and even opted to go for a DRS in a false caught behind attempt just for the TV umpire to reverse the wide.

Samson’s efforts went in vain, and the umpire decided to keep the decision standing. KKR eventually won the game and added two crucial points to their tally. While RR will be disappointed with the outcome tonight, the franchise are still amongst the top four teams on the points table and are one of the prime contenders to make it into the playoffs.
