IPL 2022 | Angry Matthew Wade goes on a dressing room rampage post dismissal

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is up against table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) in a must-win game at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Prior to the game, Titans skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat. However, their top order got rocked early courtesy of RCB’s Australian imports Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell’s early breakthroughs.

Gujarat Titans’ number three batter Matthew Wade arrived at the crease in the third over of the innings. The dynamic Australian wicketkeeper-batsman looked good during his 13-ball stay until RCB’s Glenn Maxwell trapped him in front of stumps. The on-field umpire upheld Maxwell’s appeal, thus prompting Wade to go for the DRS.

Wade gestured that the ball hit his bat before its contact with the pads and expressed confidence prior to the television replays. However, much to everyone’s surprise, the Ultra-Edge did not pick any contact with the bat by showing a flat line. On field umpire stayed with his decision as a furious Wade, while getting comforted by Virat Kohli, was seen walking back to the dressing room.

After arriving at the dressing room, the left-hander was witnessed throwing his helmet and banging his bat on the floor out of rage. 

Matthew Wade compiled 16 off 13 balls and looked set for a big score to finish off his side’s league stage. The batsman, struggling with form this year, has not scored beyond 30 in any of the eight matches.
