With a six to square leg off a Jasprit Bumrah bouncer, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli entered into the elite list of batsmen with 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this milestone while playing against Mumbai Indians in the 39th match of IPL 2021.
Kohli is also only the first Indian to reach 10 thousand runs. Other players in the list include West Indians Chris Gayle (14,275), Kieron Pollard (11,195), Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (10808) and Australian David Warner (10019).
Kohli, who made his T20 debut in 2007 playing for Delhi in a match against Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala, has 3159 runs in international games of the shortest format while 6165 runs of his total runs have come in the Indian Premier League.
The 32-year-old Indian skipper has so far played 314 T20 games and with an average of more than 41, has notched up five centuries and 73 fifties at a strike rate of 133.
As far as the game is concerned, RCB, after losing the toss were put in to bat first and by the time writing this copy, they had reached 62-1 in the eighth over. Both MI and RCB have lost their last two games and thus it is an important clash for both sides.
