  • Ipl 2021 Flow Was Broken Once Tournament Was Suspended Will Have To Rebuild Our Energy Says Dhawan

IPL 2021: Flow was broken once tournament was suspended, will have to rebuild our energy, says Dhawan

Delhi Capitals batsman Shikhar Dhawan has said that he is excited about the resumption of the Indian Premier League but also admitted that the side will have to gather again to get into the groove.

“I am looking forward to the IPL season. I am very excited to play the upcoming matches,” Dhawan was quoted as saying in a statement released.

“We were in a certain flow in the first half of the season and then that flow was broken once the tournament was suspended. So we have to rebuild our energy and get back on the flow we were in,” the left-handed batsman added.

The right-handed batsman Shreyas Iyer is also back in the side after he had missed the first half after sustaining a shoulder injury during the England series at home.

Talking about Iyer, Dhawan said that the right-hander’s presence in the line up will add to the strength. “The good thing is that our team is well balanced and Shreyas Iyer is back in the side as well, so our team is even stronger now,” said Dhawan.

The IPL 2021 was suspended on May 4 after there were Covid-19 positive cases within the franchise but the cash-rich league will now be resumed in the UAE from September 19 with Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings in the first fixture of the second leg.

Delhi Capitals were in good form in the first phase of the IPL and were sitting at the helm of the points table when the tournament was halted. DC will now resume the tournament against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22 in Dubai.

CPL 2021 | GAW vs JT: With semi-final berth on stake, Guyana lock horns with Jamaica

Guyana Amazon Warriors just need to stick to the basics as they take on Jamaica Tallawahs to cement a place in the semi-final. The Warriors have won five out of the nine matches that they have played while Jamaica have won four matches out of the nine matches that they have featured in. The Tallawahs will not just have to win the encounter against Guyana but they would need to clinch a victory with a big margin to maintain a good net run-rate. Guyana are coming into this game on the back of a comprehensive win over Jamaica in their last encounter that they won by 46 runs. Nicholas Pooran was on song as he notched up an unbeaten 75 off 39 deliveries while the bowlers too performed brilliantly and bundled the opposition out for 123 while chasing 170 in 20 overs. On the other side, Jamaica struggled with both bat and ball against the Warriors. Moreover, all-rounder Andre Russell hasn’t really unveiled a performance of his class barring the fifty he scored against the Kings earlier in the competition. The Jamaican team would surely want him to go all guns blazing in this all important match. CPL 2021 | BR vs SLK: Kings eye semi-final berth, Royals look for consolation win

Saint Lucia Kings will be up against Barbados Royals in St Kitts on Sunday. The Kings will be playing their all important match as they face the Royals as a win in this encounter will help them stay in the competition. On the other side, Royals have been knocked out of the tournament after they suffered seven defeats in the nine matches that they have played. Saint Lucia will be coming into this clash on the back of a win against the same opposition in their previous match where they defeated the Barbados side by 14 runs (DLS Method) in a rail-curtailed game. The Kings might be without their regular skipper Faf du Plessis. “Difficult to say with these things, probably have to go for a scan (issue with his leg). Not looking too good for tomorrow,” Faf had said after the game against Barbados earlier. This might come as a blow for the Saint Lucia side as Du Plessis was among runs in the last match and looked in good touch. Nevertheless, Roston Chase has been in brilliant form with the bat while David Wiese scalped a fifer in the previous match. On the other side, the Barbados team would be looking to conclude the competition on a positive note. SL vs SA | 2nd T20I: Sri Lanka seek turnaround, South Africa look to seal series

Sri Lanka and South Africa will lock horns with each other in the second T20I of the three-match series in Colombo. The Proteas rode on some decent performance from their batting line up, especially the top-order in the first clash and posted a good total on the board and then restricted the opposition for 135/6 while chasing a target of 164 in 20 overs. An all-round performance from the side handed the visitors a 1-0 lead in the series. On the other side, the hosts would be looking to turn the tables for themselves in this second game. CPL 2021 | JT vs GAW: Pooran, bowlers hand Guyana convincing win over Jamaica

Guyana Amazon Warriors registered a comprehensive 46-run win over Jamaica Tallawahs after defending a target of 170 runs in St kitts on Sunday. The Jamaican team suffered a major batting collapse during the course and was bowled out for 123 in the final over. The Tallawahs didn’t have a great start to the chase as they lost Kennar Lewis early when the team score read 22 but Kirk McKenzie and Haider Ali tried to provide some resistance to the side as the two batsmen scored 41 runs for the second wicket. Ali departed for 16 off 18 and his wicket broke the shackles Jamaica began to lose wickets at regular intervals and were soon left tottering at 101/7 to eventually get bundled out. Odean Smith and Gudakesh Motie picked up three wickets apiece as the Guyana side dominated the Tallawahs thoroughly. Earlier, the Amazon Warriors also lost some wickets at the early stage of the game but Nicholas Pooran held the innings from one end and struck 75* off 39 that included seven maximums and four fours to take his side to 169/6 in 20 overs. Pooran later talked about his knock and said that this was the right time to take the responsibility on himself and be among runs. “I know I was due and there was no better opportunity for me. I was looking forward to a big score today. (On rotating his bowlers) It was just about assessing really fast. I batted a little while there so I understood the surface. I knew it would be difficult with the new ball, but for the spinners it was easier,” he said after the match. The two sides will now meet each other on Monday at the same venue.
