IPL 2020 | SRH vs KXIP: Match Preview, Predicted XI & Dream 11 Fantasy Picks

In the moving week of the Indian Premier League, two of the teams coming from sour defeats in their last week encounters would be up against each other in search of a victory that is badly needed for their confidence and also for the league to get more competitive and the spice up the week which is getting boring due to one-sided affairs.

While Hyderabad tasted defeat in a game that they were in the competition till the last moments and were outdone because of their dependence on only David Warner. Kings XI, on the other hand, were simply outclassed by a brilliant Chennai Super Kings opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson.

Do or Die for Kings XI:

Kings XI Punjab came into the tournament with a bang with three back to back great games against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians. Although they lost close games against Rajasthan and Delhi but the KL Rahul-led team were still the better team on the day. However, in the next two games, they were simply humbled by a great margin by Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, breaking their flow.

KL Rahul, the captain is still focussed and positive about the turnaround. But for that to happen, their bowlers have to get wickets at regular intervals, not letting the team score in a stretch of over 190. If that is done, then the batsmen, especially Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran need to come good to give the pair of Mayank Agarwal and Rahul.

David Warner and Co. need to buck-up

For Hyderabad, the game is getting ahead of them in their batting department. While they are not able to score quickly in their powerplay, their finish has also not been up to the mark. For things to arrive at a particular conclusion, players like Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, and Jonny Bairstow have to take the responsibility.

Bowling wise, T Natarajan has been a great find of the season for them. Rashid Khan is at his usual best, the only thing that the team would lag in is the replacement of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which they need to find.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab: Match Details

Match number- 22

Date: October 7, 2020 at 7:30 PM IST, 02:00 PM GMT, 6:00 PM Local

Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

Pitch

The Dubai pitch has been playing at its usual best with being a true wicket giving both the teams an equal opportunity to win the game on their merit. A fresh pitch would be in place making it an opportunity for a high scoring game. Depending on the statistics, only Chennai has managed to win a game in Dubai chasing, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the team chooses to bat first.

Weather

The weather in Dubai has been perfectly suited for cricket as there has been no rain and the chances of its occurrence are also very low. The humidity is going relatively down, making dew a less deciding factor in the game. The pool sea breeze in the evening would help swing bowlers in the second innings early on. Later in the innings, the grip in the pitch also helps spinners come in the game.

Team News

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad has been deprived of the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and to cover that up, pacers like Siddarth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma were called up. In such a scenario, getting in an all-rounder like Vijay Shankar in the team would make the balance better for the team. In the batting department, Mohammad Nabi could also be brought back to give them a great finish.

Expected XI

David Warner (c), Wriddhiman Saha (Wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Mohammad Nabi, Abdul Samad, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, T Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma

Kings XI Punjab

In the Punjab setup, there could be certain changes like Chris Gayle coming into the team along with Hardus Viljoen would be a great chance to push the batting as well as bowling in the team. With Gayle coming in, at least Mayank Agarwal would be pushed later in the order to stabilize the innings.

Expected XI

Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (c), Mandeep Singh, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Sarfaraz Khan, Harpreet Brar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Hardus Viljoen

IPL 2020 | MI vs RR: 3 Reasons Why Mumbai manage clinical victory over Rajasthan

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians are at the top of the table once again after defeating form-starved Rajasthan Royals in the 20th match of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday, 6 October. It was business as usual for Mumbai in Sharjah with the team firing in all departments and picking up a humongous 57-run victory to maintain their momentum. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson and Trent Boult stood out with the masterful control over the game and substitute fielder Anukual Roy took a blinder of a catch to make people stand and applaud from their homes. While all that happened in the second innings defending the massive 194 run target, earlier Suryakumar Yadav played the best match of his IPL career scoring an astonishing 79 off 47 balls. On that note, here are the three reasons why Mumbai Indians flat-batted the Rajasthan challenge and now are at the top of the Indian Premier League 2020. Suryakumar Yadav Within the first 5 balls of him coming into the crease, Mumbai must have felt that they were in for something special. His first boundary came from an on-drive with Yadav caressing the balls between the mid-on and the short mid-wicket. While runs kept coming, he faced an absolutely awful face height beamer from Jofra Archer that he could barely avoid. Getting hit by a bouncer later on, Yadav’s stood up and replied back with a six off the next delivery. He was the chief architect of the Mumbai innings ably supported by Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya who made important contributions to take the game out of Rajasthan’s reach. Jasprit Bumrah This man is slowly, but surely returning to his prime. After picking up 2 wickets in his last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Jasprit Bumrah produced the best figures of his IPL career tonight picking up 4 wickets for just 20 runs. The MI pace bowling unit picked up a total of 8 wickets on the night and it again came to fore how much planning the Zaheer Khan-led MI thinktank does before coming into every game. Kiwi pacer spoke at the end of the game and said that while he would love to see the ball doing more at the beginning of the innings, but the fact the team is hunting in pack is something satisfying to watch. “I think the whole pack is working together. I think we have a pretty clear game plan. It's a good wicket, but the way we've managed to take wickets [has been good]. You're always challenged with quality players, intimidating you a bit. But I think I'd love to see the ball swing around a little more at the top. Hasn't been a huge feature of this tournament.” Rajasthan top order just cannot catch a break Despite making changes at the Rajasthan Royals’ top order things are not coming together for Steve Smith and his team. The top order has failed for three matches straight and Sanju Samson’s inconsistency debate once again has come to the fore. Smith himself has not spent a lot of time out there in the middle himself spending just 19 balls in his last three matches. With Ben Stokes set to join the team on 10th of this month, Rajasthan have to try and get their campaign back on track against probably the strongest side in this year’s IPL, the Delhi Capitals on Friday, 9 October. Speaking after the game, Smith said that they do not need to panic and rather implement their plans on the field better to get the desired results. He also said that they would like to build some momentum before Stokes comes in. “I don't think we need to panic too much. It's just about implementing our plans and playing good cricket for longer. Hasn't been a good last three games. Need to turn it around and get some momentum.”
