If India are to win their first series in England since 2007, their bowlers will have to be at the top of their game. All of them are sweating it out in the nets although there are no certainties announced for the first Test scheduled to start on August 04 in Nottingham.
The pace battery comprising of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami were seen honing their skills in pictures tweeted by the BCCI before the landmark series that will start India’s campaign in the next cycle of the World Test Championship.
The second set of pictures showed the merging pace star in Mohammed Siraj, who went from strength to strength in absence of the senior quartet of pacers on the tour of Australia. He was the most successful Indian bowler on the tour and the Indian team management has had to make the tough decision of leaving him out from the WTC final against New Zealand.
The command of the spin department will hinge on the shoulders and fingers of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel, with the former two having the best chance of getting out on the field in the playing XI.
Axar Patel had made a stupendous entry into international cricket in absence of Jadeja in the home series against England but will be very difficult to replace him in the upcoming series.
R Ashwin is in mid of a purple patch with the ball in hand and with a commanding spell of bowling in unhelpful conditions during the WTC final against New Zealand, he has put the team management with a good headache while selecting the playing XI.
