IND vs NZ | 1st T20I: Suryakumar Yadav scores fifty, powers India on path of victory

Suryakumar Yadav capitalised on the opportunity to bat at the number three position for India in T20 Internationals and scored a magnificent half-century in the first game of the series against New Zealand in Jaipur.

He reached the landmark with a trademark big six over fine leg off Lockie Ferguson in 34 balls and steered India in the chase of 165 runs. He was sublime with his timing and placement and put all kinds of bowlers to the sword.

It was his third fifty in only seventh T20 Internationals and the reputation that he has built after successful years in domestic cricket and IPL is getting only better with each game at the international level.

With the help of his fifty and a crisp 46 runs from the skipper Rohit Sharma, India were well on their way to chase 165 runs. SKY eventually got out for 62 runs off 40 balls to Trent Boult trying to attempt a ramp against a full and a straight ball. India were at 144/3 at that point.

Earlier, Rohit won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first, and the Blackcaps were helped by Mark Chapman and Martin Guptill who scored fifty each.
