  • Imran Khan Expects Ramiz Raja To Fight For His Position Till The Last Ball

Imran Khan expects Ramiz Raja to fight for his position till 'the last ball'

Former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan resigned as the Prime Minister of Pakistan after a no-confidence motion was passed in the National Assembly.

Subsequently, Ramiz Raja, who was elected as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief last September, was unsure whether he would be able to continue his tenure; since it has always been understood that the PCB chairman should resign if the PM is leaving office.

PCB has made heaps of progress since Ramiz Raja was made the chief. The PCB successfully hosted the Australian Cricket Team and has scheduled more international fixtures for the future.

The standard of the Pakistan Super League (The local franchised tournament) has been raised, and according to reports, the PSL profits have jumped around 71%. They are earning INR 900 million, the highest achievement in the league’s history.

The board has also recently announced the incorporation of the Pakistan Junior League as a platform for U-19 players to showcase their game and earn contracts.

PCB is confident that the Junior League will push high quality young talent. Raja has put forward all these significant changes. Ramiz also believes in making the PCB more transparent.

Despite political instability, Raja has managed to increase profits. In turn, this helps the country maintain its foreign exchange reserves. In addition, Raja has proved himself worthy of his position at the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Raja stated that he had no intentions of resigning. However, the recently shaped government and the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif believe Raja should continue his tenure as the PCB chief.

The PM stated that cricket isn’t a principal need for public authority at the moment. And that a decision to replace Raja might open an unnecessary can of worms, and that is why the public administration is not intervening in the matter. Former PM Imran Khan stated that he would expect Ramiz Raja to fight for his position till ‘the last ball’.
