In what is coming as a major shock to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Olympics dream will have to wait a little longer as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has disapproved the bid for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

However, with things not going their way, the next hope could be the 2032 Brisbane Olympics for which the ICC is quite pragmatic. There are certain reports that claim the appointment of BCCI secretary Jay Shah as the new chairperson of the working committee.

The news comes after ICC's chief executive Geoff Allardice reaffirmed last week that they were confident of getting the go-ahead from the world body.

"I think we were very happy and the feedback was all positive for our Member countries and players around how that experience was with the Commonwealth Games. We're in a good position to be able to deliver both men's and women's events and we're putting our best foot forward for inclusion in the Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles."

The blow in ICC's face is majorly to do with the time frame of a T20 game that lasts more than three and a half hours.

Going forward, the cricketing body might consider the shortest form of the game, T10 for the global event as the window for one particular match in the Olympics is generally less than two hours.

Some insider also claims that ICC's pitch to the committee wasn't at par as it should have been.

Previously, the 2022 Commonwealth Games featured cricket after a very long time with women's event in place as Australia clinched the title beating India in the final of the eight team tournament.
